The Configuration Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing and operating the software configuration management system required for the Strategic Platforms Programme and specifically the MOB, DCB and SBI projects.

The role includes the creation and implementation of the programme Configuration Management Plan and Configuration Management Procedures and the associated organisational roles, processes and supporting tools.

In addition, the Configuration Manager will be responsible for completing the software build and release of individual projects and the alignment of project builds to provide an overall programme technology solution.

Activities
- Creating and implementing a programme wide software Configuration Management Plan

- Creating and implementing a programme wide software Configuration Management System – organisation, processes and technology

- Liaising with Project Manager to formally accept new software releases from suppliers for entry into the Configuration Management System

- Liaising with Project Manager to complete software builds and release them to the appropriate development environments

- Managing the configuration of all Project Test, Release and Model Office test environments

Primary Skills

- Demonstrable experience of implementing at least 2 configuration management systems from the ground up

- Extensive experience in managing the configuration and build of enterprise class software solutions

- Broad awareness of configuration management tools and specifically, Concurrent Version System (CVS), OpenCVS, SourceSafe and CMake

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, gained working with fast moving projects.
